Answer:

Value of  [tex]P(Q \cap R)[/tex] is, 0.0081

For an independent events A and B is given by:

[tex]P(A \cap B) =P(A) \cdot P(B)[/tex]

As per the statement:

Suppose Q and R are independent events.

P(Q) = 0.27 and P(R) = 0.03.

We have to find [tex]P(Q \cap R)[/tex]

By definition we have;

Substitute the given values we have;

[tex]P(Q \cap R) =0.27 \cdot 0.03[/tex]

F(x, y) = x2 i + y2 j c is the arc of the parabola y = 2x2 from (1, 2) to (2, 8) (a) find a function f such that f = ∇f.

[tex]\mathbf F(x,y)=x^2\,\mathbf i+y^2\,\mathbf j[/tex]

If a scalar function [tex]f(x,y)[/tex] exists for which [tex]\nabla f(x,y)=\mathbf F(x,y)[/tex], then we'd have

[tex]\dfrac{\partial f}{\partial x}=x^2\implies f(x,y)=\dfrac{x^3}3+g(y)[/tex]
[tex]\implies\dfrac{\partial f}{\partial y}=y^2=g'(y)\implies g(y)=\dfrac{y^3}3+C[/tex]

so the scalar function would be given by

[tex]f(x,y)=\dfrac{x^3+y^3}3+C[/tex]

where [tex]C[/tex] is an arbitrary constant.

Presumably, this question is being asked in the context of the line integral of [tex]\mathbf F(x,y)[/tex] along the given contour [tex]C[/tex]. Since [tex]\mathbf F(x,y)[/tex] is conservative - and consequently a scalar potential function [tex]f(x,y)[/tex] exists - we can simply use the gradient theorem to evaluate the line integral. We would get

[tex]\displaystyle\int_C\mathbf F\cdot\mathrm d\mathbf r=f(2,8)-f(1,2)=\dfrac{511}3[/tex]

(and we get the same answer by parameterizing [tex]C[/tex] and computing the integral as we usually would)

1.Parallelogram ACFD is split in two parts so that ABED and FEBC are congruent isosceles trapezoids. What are the measures of all the angles of trapezoid FEBC if angle D is 48°?

I know that Angle C is 48 degrees
I know that Angle F is 132 degrees
What is < CBE equal to and why?
What is < FEB equal to and why?

Answers

Refer to the diagram shown below.

Because ACFD is a parallelogram, its opposite angles are equal. Therefore
x = m∠ACF = m∠BCF = 48°
Similarly,
y = m∠CAD = m∠CFD

The sum of the angles inside a parallelogram is 360°. Therefore
48° + x + y + y = 360°
Because x = 48°,
48° + 48° + 2y = 360°
2y = 360° - 96° = 264°
y = 132°

Because ABED and FEBC are congruent, therefore
y = m∠DAB = m∠CFE = 132°
x = m∠ADE = m∠FCB = 48°

Because FEBC is a parallelogram, the opposite angles are equal. Therefore
m∠CBE = m∠CFE = y = 132°
m∠BCF = m∠BEF = x = 48°

Answer:
The measures of all angles of trapezoid FEBC are
m∠BCF = 48°
m∠BEF = 48°
m∠CBE = 132°
m∠CFE = 132°

A basket contains 12 apples, of which two are rotten. a sample of three apples is selected at random. in how many ways can two rotten apples be chosen

Answers

Final answer:

Using the concept of combinations, there are 10 ways to choose three apples from a basket, where two are rotten and one is not.

Explanation:

The question is asking about the number of ways two rotten apples can be chosen from a basket, given the total apples and the number of rotten ones. This is a problem based on probability and combinations.

The total number of apples in the basket is 12, two of them are rotten. The number of ways of choosing 2 rotten apples from 2 is simply 1 way, because there are only 2 and you're choosing each one of them.

But, the student is asked to select three apples, so the last apple would be one of the other 10 (remaining good ones). The number of ways you can choose that is 10 C 1.

From combinations rules, we know nCr=n!/[r!(n-r)!], where n is the total items, r is the number chosen, and '!' refers to factorial.

So to find the number of ways to choose 1 apple from 10, we find 10! / [1!(10-1)!]. This calculates as 10! / [1!9!] = 10. So, there are 10 ways to choose three apples with two of them being rotten.

There are 10 different ways to choose a sample of three apples from the basket such that exactly two of them are rotten.

To determine the number of ways to choose two rotten apples from a basket containing 12 apples (2 of which are rotten) when a sample of three apples is selected.

We can use combinatorics.

Step-by-Step Solution:

1. Identify the total number of apples and the rotten apples:

Total apples: [tex]\( 12 \)[/tex]

Rotten apples: [tex]\( 2 \)[/tex]

2. Determine the possible cases for choosing two rotten apples in the sample of three:

We need to choose 2 out of the 2 rotten apples.

We need to choose the remaining 1 out of the 10 good apples.

3. Calculate the number of ways to choose 2 rotten apples out of 2:

[tex]\[ \binom{2}{2} = 1 \][/tex]

4. Calculate the number of ways to choose 1 good apple out of 10:

[tex]\[ \binom{10}{1} = 10 \][/tex]

5. Multiply the results from the above steps to get the total number of ways to choose two rotten apples and one good apple:

[tex]\[ \text{Total ways} = \binom{2}{2} \times \binom{10}{1} = 1 \times 10 = 10 \][/tex].

what is the quotient a-3/7÷3-a/21

Answers

I wish you were using parentheses here.  I must assume (without knowing for sure) that y ou mean

a - 3/7
----------
3 - a/21

The LCD here is 21, since 7 divides into 21 without a remainder.

Thus, multiply numerator and denominator by 21:

21a - 9
-----------
63 - a

You could leave this result as is, or you could factor out 3:

     7a-3
3 ---------
    63-a

The quotient of the expression [tex]\(\frac{a-3}{7} \div \frac{3-a}{21}\)[/tex] is -3.

To find the quotient of the expression [tex]\(\frac{a-3}{7} \div \frac{3-a}{21}\)[/tex], we follow the rules of division for fractions, which involves multiplying the first fraction by the reciprocal of the second fraction.

The expression can be rewritten as:

[tex]\[\frac{a-3}{7} \times \frac{21}{3-a}\][/tex]

Now, we can simplify the expression by canceling out common factors. Notice that [tex]\(a-3\)[/tex] and [tex]\(3-a\)[/tex] are negatives of each other, and [tex]\(7\)[/tex] is a factor of [tex]\(21\)[/tex].

First, we can cancel [tex]\(a-3\)[/tex] with [tex]\(3-a\)[/tex], keeping in mind that a negative sign will be introduced since [tex]\(a-3 = -(3-a)\)[/tex]:

[tex]\[\frac{-1}{7} \times \frac{21}{-1}\][/tex]

Next, we simplify [tex]\(21\)[/tex] divided by [tex]\(7\)[/tex], which is [tex]\(3\)[/tex]:

[tex]\[-1 \times 3\] = -3[/tex]

A runner can jog at a rate of 4 miles per hour uphill. Downhill, he can run 3 miles in the same time it takes him to run 2 miles uphill. How long would it take to run 2 miles uphill and then 3 miles downhill?
what is the most important variable?

Answers

The most important variable is 4 miles per hour up hill. Down hill he can run 3 miles in the same time it takes time to run uphill.  up hill 4 miles  1 hour  so 2 miles up hill is 1/2 hour.  Down hill he can run 3 miles in the same time it takes time to run up hill..  2 miles up hill - 1/2 hour.  So 1/2 hr up and 1/2 hr down = 1 hour.

To calculate the total time it takes to run 2 miles uphill at 4 mph and then 3 miles downhill at a speed that takes the same time as running 2 miles uphill, we find that the time for each is 0.5 hours, or 30 minutes, totaling 1 hour

The main question asks how long it would take for the runner to run 2 miles uphill and then 3 miles downhill, knowing that he jogs at a rate of 4 miles per hour uphill, and he can run 3 miles downhill in the same time it takes to run 2 miles uphill

First, let's find the time it takes to run 2 miles uphill. Since he runs at 4 miles per hour uphill, the time for 2 miles uphill is 2 miles divided by 4 miles per hour, which equals 0.5 hours or 30 minutes. Now, since it takes the same time to run 3 miles downhill, we know the downhill time is also 30 minutes

The total time taken for 2 miles uphill and 3 miles downhill is the sum of both, which is 30 minutes + 30 minutes = 60 minutes, or 1 hour. Thus, the answer to the student's question is 1 hour

Two similar right triangles have areas of 6 square inches and 150 square inches. The length of the hypotenuse of the smaller triangle is 5 inches. What is the sum of the lengths of the legs of the larger triangle?

Answers

Final answer:

To solve for the sum of the lengths of the legs of the larger triangle, we need to know the sum of the legs of the smaller triangle and multiply it by the scaling factor, which is 5. However, we can't find this sum with the given information because we don't have individual leg lengths of the smaller triangle.

Explanation:

To find the sum of the lengths of the legs of the larger triangle, we first need to establish the scale factor between the two similar triangles based on their areas. The area of a triangle scales with the square of the length of its sides. Given that one triangle has an area of 6 square inches and the other has an area of 150 square inches, the scale factor in area is given by the square root of the ratio of the larger area to the smaller area, which is √(150/6), which simplifies to 5. Therefore, if the hypotenuse of the smaller triangle is 5 inches, the hypotenuse of the larger triangle will be 5 times larger, that is 5 * 5 = 25 inches.

Given that the triangles are similar, all corresponding lengths scale by the factor of 5. If we denote the length of the legs of the smaller triangle as a and b, and the legs of the larger triangle as A and B, then A = 5a and B = 5b. Although we don't know the exact lengths of a and b, we can use the Pythagorean Theorem which states that the square of the hypotenuse (c) is equal to the sum of the squares of the two legs (a and b). For the smaller triangle, we have c² = a² + b². But since we only know c (which is 5 inches for the smaller triangle), we cannot directly find the individual lengths of a and b.

Since the question asks for the sum of the legs of the larger triangle (A+B), we only need to find the sum of the legs of the smaller triangle (a+b) and scale it up by the same factor. If a and b were known, we would do (a+b)*5 to get the sum for the larger triangle. However, without those individual lengths, we cannot find the sum based on the given information. To solve this problem, additional information about the lengths of the legs of the smaller triangle would be needed.

Kathy runs a 26.2- mile marathon at an average pace of 6.2 minutes per mile how long will it take her to finish

Answers

Around 2:45:34
hope this helps

Kathy will complete the 26.2-mile marathon in approximately 2 hours and 42 minutes by multiplying the marathon distance by her average pace and converting the result from minutes to hours and minutes.

To calculate the time it will take for Kathy to finish a 26.2-mile marathon at an average pace of 6.2 minutes per mile, we simply multiply the distance of the marathon by her average pace per mile. This is a basic mathematics problem involving multiplication to determine the total time.

Here is the calculation:

Total marathon distance = 26.2 miles

Average pace = 6.2 minutes per mile

Total time = Total marathon distance x Average pace

Total time = 26.2 miles x 6.2 minutes per mile = 162.44 minutes

To convert minutes into hours and minutes, we know that there are 60 minutes in an hour. Therefore:

Hours = Total time / 60

Hours = 162.44 minutes / 60 ≈ 2.707 hours

Since we want hours and the remaining minutes, we can take the decimal part and multiply it by 60:

Remaining minutes = 0.707 x 60 ≈ 42.42 minutes

Hence, Kathy will complete the marathon in approximately 2 hours and 42 minutes.

What is the geometric sequence?

A geometric sequence is a special type of sequence. It is a sequence in which every term (except the first term) is multiplied by a constant number to get its next term. i.e., To get the next term in the geometric sequence, we have to multiply with a fixed term (known as the common ratio), and to find the preceding term in the sequence, we just have to divide the term by the same common ratio.

In the given geometric sequence the common ratio is 1/2.

5th term=50/2=25

6th term=25/2=12.5

When my friends were talking about boys, I was talking about college and college life. When the other kids were playing with dolls, I was playing with a calculator. When my best friend was watching movies, I was reading books. I know the teachers and staff at my school better than my peers and classmates because they are more intimidating to me than adults. My teachers called me an old soul while my peers called me a goody two shoes. I never let these differences bring me down, instead, I believe they just set me apart from everyone else.These differences have helped me get through challenges in my life. One of the greatest challenges I have ever faced is not having a dad around. Since my dad decided that he did not want to have a child he has never been a major part of my life. It was hard on me when I was younger, I would ask what I did wrong or why he didnt want me? As I have gotten older I have grown to understand that not everyone is ready for parenthood. My mom stepped up and has been the best parent I could have asked for. She has always pushed me to be the best person I can be and taught me that my differences make me who I am. When I got bullied in middle school, I chose to research about college, I would always tell myself that even if today wasnt great I have college to look forward to and that I can never give up. Instead of me breaking down whenever there is an issue or challenge in my life I try instead to see how I can fix it or how I can overcome it. My differences have not only made me who I am but it has increased my desire to go to college. For example, I am the only scholar at my school who is graduating a year early. I decided on this since I would only have one required class, Instead of staying Id rather expand my knowledge by starting college a year early. I have also given over 100 tours at my school, I normally am the scholar they ask to lead the tours since I have the leadership skills. I was able to have both of these experiences mainly because I am different since I show maturity and have the trust of the teachers and staff members at school. Looking back my differences or being the odd one has actually helped me accomplish the starting steps to my dreams, including my very first dream of going to college and helping shape my future plans. One of those future goals is to travel, last summer I was sponsored to go to China for two weeks, this gave me such a different outlook on the world. It helped me realize just how much I want to travel and explore the world to see how so many people live immensely differently than we do. Travel is not my only passion, I also deeply love mathematics and science or more specifically medicine. This passion has grown throughout my high school career with classes such as pre-calculus and medical biology. It is my plan to study International Relations accompanied with Bio-Medical Engineering. I have selected both of these majors so that I can not only have an impact on my country but also to have an impact on the world. I cant wait to find out more about myself in college and to use my differences to make a change in the world. What is the difference between the central plains and the great plains? help please Find the volume of a pyramid with a square base, where the perimeter of the base is 5.5 m and the height of the pyramid is 2.9 m. Round your answer to the nearest tenth of a cubic meter. ead the following passage and answer the question that follows.The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hydeby Robert Louis StevensonPart 1Mr. Utterson the lawyer was a man of a rugged countenance, that was never lighted by a smile; cold, scanty and embarrassed in discourse; backward in sentiment; lean, long, dusty, dreary, and yet somehow lovable. At friendly meetings, and when the wine was to his taste, something eminently human beaconed from his eye; something indeed which never found its way into his talk, but which spoke not only in these silent symbols of the after-dinner face, but more often and loudly in the acts of his life. He was austere with himself; drank gin when he was alone, to mortify a taste for vintages; and though he enjoyed the theatre, had not crossed the doors of one for twenty years. But he had an approved tolerance for others; sometimes wondering, almost with envy, at the high pressure of spirits involved in their misdeeds; and in any extremity inclined to help rather than to reprove."I incline to, Cain's heresy*," he used to say. "I let my brother go to the devil in his quaintly 'own way.'" In this character, it was frequently his fortune to be the last reputable acquaintance and the last good influence in the lives of down-going men. And to such as these, so long as they came about his chambers, he never marked a shade of change in his demeanour.No doubt the feat was easy to Mr. Utterson; for he was undemonstrative at the best, and even his friendship seemed to be founded in a similar catholicity of good-nature. It is the mark of a modest man to accept his friendly circle ready-made from the hands of opportunity; and that was the lawyer's way. His friends were those of his own blood or those whom he had known the longest; his affections, like ivy, were the growth of time, they implied no aptness in the object. Hence, no doubt, the bond that united him to Mr. Richard Enfield, his distant kinsman, the well-known man about town. It was a nut to crack for many, what these two could see in each other, or what subject they could find in common. It was reported by those who encountered them in their Sunday walks, that they said nothing, looked singularly dull, and would hail with obvious relief the appearance of a friend. For all that, the two men put the greatest store by these excursions, counted them the chief jewel of each week, and not only set aside occasions of pleasure, but even resisted the calls of business, that they might enjoy them uninterrupted.*The biblical story of Cain and Abel is a story about two brothers who gave offerings to God. Abels offering was accepted by God, but Cains was not. Jealous, Cain killed his brother. When asked Cain where Abel was, Cain said, Am I my brothers keeper? By saying this, Cain implied that what his brother did was his own business. (Genesis 4:1-16)Mr. Enfield is called "the well-known man about town." What can we infer about his character, in contrast to that of Mr. Utterson? He is less wealthy than Mr. Utterson He is less important than Mr. Utterson He is not as socially awkward as Mr. Utterson He is not related to Mr. Utterson As a medical assistant, what do you say to a patient to dispel fears or concerns over receiving an x-ray?
