The correct answer is C. Interjection
Explanation:
In language, an interjection is a word that is not part of a sentence but is used to express strong emotions or feelings in an exclamatory way. Due to this, interjections are usually followed by an exclamation mark (!) and is not related grammatically to the main sentence, although it provides meaning to it. In the case of the underlined word "Yes! this can be identified as an interjection because it expresses strong emotion, is not part of the main sentence "Someone is preparing jambalaya in the kitchen" and it is followed by an exclamation mark that shows the word is an interjection.

i s skillful,deft,humid,and innate antonyms
The words 'skillful' and 'deft' are synonyms representing adeptness, while 'innate' describes something inborn and 'humid' relates to air moisture, making them unrelated. 'Skillful' is derived by combining an adjective with the suffix '-ful', resulting in an adjective.'
Whether the words 'skillful', 'deft', 'humid', and 'innate' are antonyms depends on the context in which they are used. Skillful and deft are synonyms as they both refer to having or showing finesse or adeptness in a task or activity. They are subsective adjectives because they provide information about the degree to which someone possesses a particular skill - 'skillful as a surgeon' emphasizes the high degree of skill in surgery.
The term innate, however, describes something that is inborn or natural, which isn't directly opposite to 'skillful' or 'deft'. If we're looking for an antonym of 'skillful' or 'deft', we might consider words like 'clumsy' or 'inept'. 'Humid' refers to the amount of moisture in the air, thus it's unrelated to skill level and not an antonym to 'skillful' or 'deft'.
The derivation of the word skillful is a combination of an adjective with the suffix '-ful', making it an adjective. So the correct description would be: Adjective + \\-ful → Adjective.

When reading fiction, you're probably focused on finding out what happens in the story and how it ends. When you read a work of fiction for a literature class, however, you need to go beyond the first surface reading. What is your approach to reading literature for a class? Have you tried a close reading of a fictional text? We haven’t really discussed an approach to close reading yet, so think about what you do now. What reading techniques do you use when you try to go beyond the surface story to really understand the layers of meaning in a work of fiction? Write your response in two to three paragraphs.
If you're on plato, the sample answer is:
When I read fiction simply for pleasure, I read the story once. I'm eager to know what happens in the story and what happens to the characters, so reading about the events in their lives and how the story ends is what matters to me. Sometimes, if the reading is slow or if I feel like a writer is providing too much detail, I even skip sections to just find out what finally happens. When I really like a story or a book, even if I’ve read it for fun, I'll reread it. For example, I’ve read J. D. Salinger’s The Catcher in the Rye three or four times from start to end.
When I read something for a literature class, I usually read the text first from beginning to end just to know what the work is about. When I don’t understand a word or a phrase, I look it up in the dictionary. Some stories that I have to read for my class are quite complex, so I usually have to reread them a few times to really understand what the writer is conveying. On my second (and sometimes third) reading, I start making notes about certain characters and events in the story. I really enjoy how writers develop characters and how good writers can make different characters all sound so different, as though the same person hasn’t conceived of them. That aspect of stories is why I pay a lot of attention to character descriptions and dialogue. Someday, if I become a writer, I hope to have the versatility to give each of my characters a unique voice as well. Also, if I can’t make a connection between two parts of the story, I try to go back and read both parts again to try and understand the connection. I also look for deeper, connotative meanings that go beyond the basic meanings of certain words used in the work.

Select the word that best completes the sentence:
Learning to drive ___________ more than just learning how to start the car.
thinks
recalls
entails
loses
Final answer:
The correct word to complete the sentence is 'entails,' indicating that learning to drive includes mastering multiple skills. This concept is akin to learning other complex tasks, like speaking a foreign language or riding a bicycle, where one progresses to performing actions automatically.
Explanation:
The word that best completes the sentence 'Learning to drive entails more than just learning how to start the car' is entails. This implies that driving includes a range of skills and knowledge beyond the initial steps of operating a vehicle. For instance, driving entails mastering the coordination of various controls, understanding traffic rules, developing road awareness, and gaining the experience to respond to different driving conditions with ease.
Just as learning to drive entails a thorough understanding of many interrelated skills, the same can be said for learning a foreign language or riding a bicycle. Beyond the basics, one must learn how parts work together and eventually be able to perform these actions almost automatically, without conscious thought, achieving a level of proficiency akin to 'autopilot' where cognitive effort is reduced.

D. Climax
The correct answer is A. Character
This quote describes the character in terms of her longings. It is a description of her inscrutable emotions. Despite her wishes to unlock them, she feels she does not have enough power to free them. Perhaps they are unreachable because they are “Up there, high up above the town” and she put her longings there for a time, so well protected no one could ever know them. Nevertheless, when the time has come to share, when it is obvious, that her mysterious look reveals something that is unknown, she feels unbelievably incapable to open them. And then all night we celebrated the birth of my baby brother. View Passage |Oyako Donburi
Elizabeth Kibler
1Japanese food and culture are popular all over the world. Many Americans want to try new and different foods. One popular Japanese dish is Oyako Donburi. The dish gets its name from two of its main ingredients: chicken and eggs. Oya means 'parent' and ko means 'child'. The word donburi is used to describe any dish served on top of a bowl of rice. People prepare this dish in many different ways, but all have the same common theme of chicken, rice, and eggs.
2To make Oyako Donburi, you must first ask a parent to help you. Then gather the ingredients and tools you will need. These are the ingredients need to make oyako donburi:
3Chicken and Egg Mixture:
4 medium chicken breasts
1 medium yellow onion, sliced
1 teaspoon garlic, minced
1 cup carrot, slivered
3 dried mushrooms, soaked
3 spring onions, sliced into 1-inch pieces
3 eggs, beaten
4 cups rice, cooked
4Sauce:
1.5 cups chicken stock
2 tablespoons light soy sauce
2 tablespoons honey
5To make the sauce first gather the chicken stock, soy sauce, and honey. Soy sauce is a traditional, dark Asian sauce that is made from soy. This sauce will add a salty flavor to the dish. There is no need for another seasoning. Put those items in the pan and put over medium heat. Next, chop the onion, mince the garlic into much smaller pieces, and cut the carrot into slivers. Then add the garlic, onion, and carrots to the sauce. Put the sauce over low heat until it bubbles lightly. Then, let it simmer for a few more minutes.
6To continue with the oyako donburi, add the chicken into the sauce. Chop two of the spring onions and incorporate them into the sauce. Then cover the pot with lid. Keep the dish on the burner for about 15 to 20 minutes, or until the chicken is fully cooked. Put a meat thermometer into the chicken to test its internal temperature. After the chicken reaches a temperature of 165 degrees, it is fully cooked. Pour the beaten eggs over the chicken mixture and simmer for about ten minutes.
7After the egg mixture has cooked thoroughly, take the food off the heat. Put the warm, cooked rice into four separate bowls. Then, spoon the chicken and egg mixture over the rice. Be sure to divide the mixture evenly among the four bowls. Chop the last spring onion and sprinkle the pieces evenly over the tops of the four dishes. Then, serve the meal.
8Oyako Donburi is an excellent meal. Your family and friends are sure to enjoy this spectacular culinary feast.
