you are a speaker in a debate competition on the topic, "farmers are more beneficial to the society than doctors". Write your contribution for or against the motion.

Answers

Answer:

Farmers are more beneficial to the society than Doctors.

Explanation:

To the mind of any reasonable man, the answer is simple that food is as important to human beings as breathing itself. The first profession known to man existence is hunting and gathering skills which later manifested into farming and therefore, Farmers are better than Doctors.

No person can attest to surviving without food. Food strengthens the human system and it is capable of fortifying the immune system to avoid illness. To this point alone, it shows why farmers are more important and necessary to the continuation of society and existence of man. It could, however, be said that farmers keep us alive because if there is no food, people will die.

The farmers provide us all foods that are needed to help us grow stronger, healthier and wiser and this would not have been possible if farmers do not exist.

On the other hand, one can easily do away with Doctors when one is taking a healthy diet. Although sometimes the Doctors become useful in treating diseases in humans and saving lives during accidents but many of the medicines used in treating patients by Doctors come from foods and plants grown by the farmers.

People sit together to eat products from farmers and this brings the families together and strangers closer. Food is the main crux of festivities, parties and holidays and all of these are made possible because of the ceaseless effort of farmers. On the other hand, visiting doctors is not usually a happy moment for people except visiting the doctors for delivery of the newborn and for some religious people, they only pray for good health and avoid visiting the doctors.

On many occasions, it has been shown that Doctors have not been on top of their job as they ought to even with the oath they take to save people's lives. Some of the Doctors act of negligence and not observing due diligence on their part and this has caused some families to lose their members to death of some forms of deformities. For one to be a doctor, it requires years of study in school and expending so much money and not every family can afford it. Unlike farming, the profession is one that is usually passed down bloodlines and generations without years of study in school and has been perfect to the point of leaving no room for mistakes. The profession is as old as time itself.

To this end, it can be said that Farmers have not only contributed to the growth and development of humanity but they are the crux of humanity itself and therefore, Farmers are more beneficial to the society than Doctors.

How does gore compare Alfred nobles intentions and goals with those of modern society

Answers

Final answer:

Alfred Nobel's humanitarian ideals are contrasted with today's profit-driven motives, highlighting the balance between personal gain and the common good. The Victorian era's contrasts persist today, with philanthropy and the pursuit of wealth creating complex societal dynamics. This examination reflects on the ethical challenges of wealth accumulation and human welfare.

Explanation:

The comparison between Alfred Nobel's intentions and goals and those of modern society reflects a variety of perspectives and values that have evolved over time. Nobel's legacy, primarily the Nobel Prizes, champions the advancement of knowledge, peace, and human welfare, showcasing a humanitarian ideal that can be contrasted with today's often profit-driven motives. However, modern society also embodies a complex mix of altruism and self-interest, where philanthropy and pursuit of wealth exist simultaneously. Various historical and literary references suggest that both eras, past and present, grapple with the balance between personal gain and the common good, highlighting perennial challenges in achieving a just and equitable society.

The Victorian era and its stark contrasts as mentioned by Beth, sometimes reflect similar dichotomies in contemporary times. The pursuit of wealth and power can overshadow more noble pursuits, a point that resonates with the claims made about the clergymen and industrialists like Rockefeller, and their contentious relationship with charity and moral responsibility. Similarly, the reference to the Aldine editions and Manuzio's wish to "sweep away barbarism with books" aligns with Nobel's educational and cultural aspirations and contrasts with today's struggles between capitalism and socialism, and different interpretations of freedom and ethics in American history.

Ultimately, examining Nobel's intentions alongside modern values invites reflection on the consistent human challenges of balancing ethical imperatives against personal and collective desires for wealth and power, where philanthropy can sometimes appear at odds with the methods by which wealth is accumulated.

his "i have a dream" speach

Heidi by Johanna Spyri When Heidi opened her eyes on her first morning in Frankfurt, she could not think where she was. She was sitting up in a high white bed, on one side of a large, wide room, into which the light was falling through very, very long white curtains. Soon she remembered that she was in Frankfurt. Heidi jumped out of bed; then she ran first to one window and then another; she wanted to see the sky and country outside; she felt like a bird in a cage behind those great curtains. But they were too heavy for her to put aside. As a bird, when it first finds itself in its bright new cage, darts hither and thither, trying the bars in turn to see if it cannot get through them and fly again into the open, so Heidi continued to run backwards and forwards, trying to open first one and then the other of the windows. But the windows remained immovable, try what Heidi would to open them, even endeavoring to push her little fingers under them to lift them up; but it was all no use. At that moment a knock came to the door, and immediately after, Tinette put her head inside and said, "Breakfast is ready." Heidi had no idea what an invitation so worded meant, but soon caught on that she was to go to the kitchen. There, she found Clara, who had been some time at the breakfast table and gave Heidi a kindly greeting. Her face looking considerably more cheerful than usual, for she looked forward to all kinds of new things happening again that day. As soon as the children were alone, Heidi asked, "How can one see out from here, and look right down on to the ground?" "You must open the window and look out," replied Clara amused. "But the windows won't open," responded Heidi sadly. "Yes, they will," Clara assured her. "You cannot open them, nor I either, but when you see Sebastian, you can ask him to open one." It was a great relief to Heidi to know that the windows could be opened and that one could look out, for she still felt as if she was shut up in prison. Clara now began to ask her questions about her home, and Heidi was delighted to tell her all about the mountain and the goats, and the flowery meadows which were so dear to her. 1 Select the correct answer. What is a theme of the passage? A. New places can provide important lessons. B. People often want to explore. C. Change can be difficult at times. D. Young people are often wiser than adults.

Answers

Answer:

The correct answer is C: Change can be difficult at times.

Explanation:

In this excerpt, Johanna Spyri describes Heidi's arrival in Frankfurt and the unpleasant change she experienced when she came there. Heidi used to live in a country with her grandfather, surrounded by nature, clear sky, plants and animals. When she came to Frankfurt, she wanted to see the sky and the country outside. However, she didn't manage to open the windows, which made her feel like a bird in a cage.

This was very different from the life she used to live before, where she had her freedom, where she created some beautiful memories. When she arrived in Frankfurt, this changed, so Heidi realized how changes can be difficult at times.

1 "I hear it's someone's birthday today," remarked Ms. Perkins, the secretary, as Benjamin exited his mother's office. This was a disadvantage of having your mom as your school principal—the faculty knew everything about you.

2 "I'm eighteen today," Benjamin replied with an embarrassed grin.

3 "Well, you don't look any different than you did yesterday," Ms. Perkins joked as she signed his hall pass.

4 Later, Benjamin caught his reflection in the cafeteria window and thought about what Ms. Perkins had said. Today, he was officially an adult, but he didn't look any different. He still had the same dark, disheveled hair and the same inquisitive eyes that were so large they sometimes seemed disproportionate with the rest of his face. He was the same height, and he still had the same prominent chin.

5 He also didn't feel particularly different. Benjamin could vividly recall the exhilaration he'd experienced on the morning of his tenth birthday. He'd bounded out of bed and basked in the knowledge that he was now one of the big kids. Benjamin felt as if he could do anything in that moment, but he didn't feel that immeasurable sense of joy today—and he couldn't help but wonder why.

Imagine you need a ride to the library. Your friend Clyde says you can have one in 86,400 seconds. When will Clyde be driving you to the library?

Answers

Answer: In one day or 24hrs

Explanation:

86400 seconds can be converted into 1440 minutes which can be converted in 24 hrs

Final answer:

To determine when your friend Clyde will be driving you to the library in 86,400 seconds, you need to convert this time into a familiar unit. By dividing 86,400 seconds by 60, we find that it is equivalent to 24 hours. Therefore, Clyde will be driving you to the library the next day at the same time as the current time.

Explanation:

In this question, your friend Clyde said that he will drive you to the library in 86,400 seconds. To determine when Clyde will be driving you to the library, we need to convert 86,400 seconds into a more familiar unit of time. There are 60 seconds in a minute, and 60 minutes in an hour. So, we can divide 86,400 by 60 to get the number of minutes. By further dividing the minutes by 60, we can convert it to hours. Finally, we find that 86,400 seconds is equivalent to 24 hours, which means Clyde will be driving you to the library the next day at the same time as the current time.

Adam describes about all the things which Eve is doing on the Earth which annoys him yet he does not say much to any of them such as:

Describe in your own words the story of the Highwayman.

Answers

Answer:

“The Highwayman,” a poem by Alfred Noyes published in 1906, tells the story of a highwayman who falls in love with Bess, a landlord’s daughter. The story ends tragically, but both are reunited again on winter nights in the afterlife.

The poem opens on a winter night with a highwayman riding into town. He is dressed finely and rides confidently into the city in the moonlight. He taps on the shutters but they are all closed until one window opens, and he sees Bess, the landlord’s daughter.

He and Bess are love, and he asks her to wait for him to return. He is after a prize, but he will come back. She agrees and lets down her hair for him to kiss. In the dark, the ostler, Tim, watches them. When the highwayman rides away, Tim goes off to betray him.

In the second part, Bess is waiting for him to return, but he does not come back in the morning or the afternoon. In the evening, the King’s men ride into the town and capture Bess. They tie her up and use her as bait. As a joke, they rope a musket to her and ask her to keep watch, laughing as they go downstairs.

She is unable to get free no matter how hard she tries. She can move just her finger so that she can cover the trigger; she decides to do no more in case they hear her. She waits for the highwayman. In the distance, she hears the sound of a horse. She does not know if the men have heard it yet. She listens, and then she makes a crucial decision.

She pulls the trigger and shoots herself in the heart so the sound of the gunshot will warn him. He hears it and takes off not knowing that she has killed herself to warn him. He rides all night, and in the morning, he hears the news of Bess’s sacrifice. In his anger, he rides back into town where they shoot him, and he dies as well.

The epilogue of the poem states that in the winter when the wind is in the trees, you can still hear the highwayman ride into town. He knocks on all the windows until he finds the one of his love. He whistles his tune, and the landlord’s daughter is waiting for him.

The central theme of the poem is love. The love between the highwayman and the landlord’s daughter is an idealized love, and although it kills them both, we understand that this kind of love is worth the ultimate sacrifice. Tim is also in love with Bess, which is why he betrays the highwayman, but we understand that his love is more base than the pure love between the highwayman and Bess.

The highwayman is an antihero. He is a robber who steals from travelers. Even though his job is not an upstanding one, we still admire his ability to love Bess, and we admire his bravery. He is not an ideal person, but the love they share redeems his character.

An unusual aspect of the poem is that the main characters are beautiful. The writer spends a lot of time describing the looks of the highwayman. He wants us to understand that this man is no ordinary robber. He is clean and snappy. Bess is described in beautiful terms a well. Again, in contrast, Tim the ostler is ugly and sloppy. Their appearances are foreshadowing of their fate. We are not typically tasked with judging on appearance, but the poem makes it difficult not to draw a comparison between the physical beauty of the highwayman and Bess and the beauty of their love, as well as the ugliness of Tim and the base love he has for Bess.

The poem is framed in descriptions of the natural world. The moonlight alone is mentioned nineteen separate times. This exaggerated, otherworldly description of the natural world gives the poem its strong sense of atmosphere. The writer gives us an extraordinary sense of reality to frame the actions that are taking place. It’s not just a love story; it is the kind of story that becomes legend.

The poem also subverts the notion of bravery. The highwayman is brave; he has to be to ride the roads at night and rob travelers. Bess is brave in using her death to warn her love. It is clear that Tim is the opposite of brave despite the fact that he is doing the morally right thing by turning in the highwayman. And the King’s men are definitely not brave in that they use Bess as bait to capture him instead of riding out to meet him directly.

“The Highwayman” challenges several major poetic themes to create a love that is both intriguing and idealized. It celebrates the antihero for being capable of true love and real bravery and lets us know that those who would try to interfere with true love will ultimately fail.

Explanation:

Final answer:

The excerpts provided do not pertain to the story of 'The Highwayman', which is a romantic narrative poem by Alfred Noyes, famed for its vivid imagery and dramatic plot.

Explanation:

The texts provided are not related to the narrative of 'The Highwayman', which is a narrative poem written by Alfred Noyes. Instead, these excerpts appear to be from various stories and poems containing themes of transformation, adventure, and the supernatural. None of these excerpts describes the story of a highwayman, which is typically a robber who steals from travelers on the road. Therefore, I am unable to provide an answer about the story of the highwayman using these references. However, if asked about 'The Highwayman' by Alfred Noyes in future, note that the poem tells of a romantic and tragic encounter between a highwayman and the innkeeper's daughter, Bess. The story is renowned for its vivid imagery and rhythmic, lyrical structure, building a tale of love, betrayal, and sacrifice.

What do you think Eddie's temperament might be? We are told he is sensitive and introverted. Think of at least two other qualities or tendencies that Eddie might have come into the world with and briefly explain why you chose them.--Eddie was born into a lower-middle income family. They lived in a small house and had just enough money to meet their needs for food and clothing. Eddie's dad worked in construction when he could find employment. His mother was an administrative assistant in a dentist's office. His mom watched TV in the evenings while Dad played games on the computer.Mom was always worried about something and had frequent headaches. She was sometimes affectionate with Eddie and sometimes distant. The father expressed only one emotion and that was anger, but he did not take his anger out on others. As Eddie grew, his dad taught him the basics of baseball with a sponge ball and bat, but otherwise the care giving was left to Mom and the daycare worker.Eddie's father loved him but was disappointed that his son was sensitive and a bit introverted. As an infant Eddie startled easily and was fearful of strange faces. To prepare Eddie for adulthood, his father often reminded him that big boys don't cry.Mom and Dad were often at odds with each other but instead of resolving their disagreements, they gave each other the silent treatment. When Eddie was three, his mother brought home baby Jenna. Eddie watched his mom constantly fuss over her baby girl.
