The word, which I interpret the Flying or Floating Island, is in the original Laputa, whereof I could never learn the true etymology. Lap, in the old obsolete language, signifies high; and untuh, a governor; from which they say, by corruption, was derived Laputa from Lapuntah.   Which word or words from the passage above illustrates original diction? I. “Floating Island” II. corruption III. “Lapuntah”

Answers

Answer 1

Final answer:

The words 'Lapunta' and 'Floating Island' are identified as examples of original diction in the passage, with 'Lapunta' being a term from an older language that signifies a governor.

Explanation:

The words from the passage that illustrate original diction are “Lapunta” and possibly “Floating Island,” depending on the interpretation of the question. The term “original diction” refers to the use of words in their most native or earliest form within a language or as they are first coined or utilized in a particular context. The word “Lapunta” comes from an older language and signifies a governor, while its supposed corruption “Laputa” is a term in Jonathan Swift’s novel “Gulliver’s Travels” which represents a fictional floating island. The interpretation can vary as it depends on whether the word “corruption” is considered as part of the transformative process of words from their original state or not, thus potentially making it also a part of original diction to some degree.

This describes the type of conflict when the leading character struggles with himself/herself; with his conscience, feelings, or ideas.

Answers

The type of conflict when the leading character struggles with themself in man vs man

The answer is the man vs self. The man vs self-conflict is when the leading character struggles with himself/herself; with his conscience, feelings, or ideas.

EXPLANATION

The man vs self is the conflict when the character has conflict within themselves. Their own adversary is themselves. Usually, the man vs self creates the main plot of a story, because it is the primary obstacle that the character has to face. Other than that, it can be a secondary conflict, since it adds pressure and tension to the main conflicts that are happening.

The man vs self-conflict is interesting because it shows how complex a person is. Each person is flawed and unique in their own way, so that they will have to develop themselves in their own way too. Their growth is a work of progress. The man vs self-conflict creates uncertainty in the story.

The conflict within one’s own self is a very intriguing one. The readers will have some sort of anticipation, on what is the main character going to be. The main character can either become a hero because he faces his own flaws, or become destructive. Self-conflict can also be applied on the antagonist, because their ‘shadow’ self is always present. Therefore, the answer to the question is man vs self, because the leading character is struggling within himself/herself, so the main character experience self-conflict.

Write 2-3 paragraphs about what you are afraid of?

Answers

The usual answer that people give when they are asked about what they are afraid of is heights, deep water, and falling in love. However, I feel different. I can't say that I am afraid of heights because that is a lie. I am actually afraid to fall. People tend to say they are afraid of heights and that too is a lie. People don't necessarily feel scared of tall buildings, but people do feel scared of falling off of them.
I am not scared of deep water. As a matter of fact, I am a swimmer which means that I am always in the deep water. Instead of being afraid of the deep water I am afraid of drowning in the deep water. Being afraid of deep water and drowning is different. When you are afraid of deep water you don't even want to go into the water. When you are afraid of drowning you tend to go into the water, but when you are in the water you tend to be cautious of not drowning.
Lastly, I am not scared of falling in love. I think that falling in love is one of the best things that can happen to someone. When you are in love you can't think of how you have been able to live your life without that specific someone in it. You think that everything is so beautiful. I am not scared of falling in love but of the cause of falling in love. When someone falls in love it is almost immediately assumed that they will have a broken heart in the end because nothing lasts forever. Therefore, I am not scared of falling in love but of a broken heart.

The size of Earth
The age of Earth
The amount of land on Earth

Answers

im answering so the guy above (or below) gets brainliest. he deserves it. I also choose c btw the age of earth

Answer:

C: The age of earth

Explanation:

So far scientists have not found a way to determine the exact age of the Earth directly from Earth rocks because Earth's oldest rocks have been recycled and destroyed by the process of plate tectonics. If there are any of Earth's primordial rocks left in their original state, they have not yet been found. Nevertheless, scientists have been able to determine the probable age of the Solar System and to calculate an age for the Earth by assuming that the Earth and the rest of the solid bodies in the Solar System formed at the same time and are, therefore, of the same age.The ages of Earth and Moon rocks and of meteorites are measured by the decay of long-lived radioactive isotopes of elements that occur naturally in rocks and minerals and that decay with half lives of 700 million to more than 100 billion years to stable isotopes of other elements. These dating techniques, which are firmly grounded in physics and are known collectively as radiometric dating, are used to measure the last time that the rock being dated was either melted or disturbed sufficiently to rehomogenize its radioactive elements.

Scientists mixed local bees with African ones to create a bee that would make more honey. They ended up with something much different. The new bees evolved in unexpected ways. They multiplied and migrated north. These Africanized honeybees are now known as killer bees for several scary but legitimate reasons. Killer bees are far more aggressive than their relatives. They have been known to attack in great numbers even when there has been no direct threat on their hives. They have swarmed because of loud noises, dark clothing, bright jewelry, and even strong perfume. They will chase a person for more than a quarter of a mile and remain angered for up to 24 hours. Killer bees are also dangerous because of their sting. While most bees take up to 30 seconds to attack, killer bees sting in just 3 seconds. Their venom is no stronger than a regular bee's, but when one killer bee stings, others follow. With up to 80,000 members in a colony, victims are quickly overwhelmed. So many stings in such a short time can cause allergic reactions. Victims enter a state of shock, lose blood pressure, and in many cases, die. A final reason why "killer" has been added to their name is the unfortunate number of deaths they have caused. Experts estimate that the Africanized honeybee moves at a rate of about 200 miles each year. As the bees claim new territory, they claim new victims as well. More than 1000 people have been stung to death in South and Central America. There have been rising numbers of attacks in Mexico and a handful in the United States. Once a swarm sets sights on a victim, it is very difficult for the victim to escape. Once attacked, it is very difficult to survive. Thankfully, there has been no killer bee invasion as some once predicted. Although there is no need for panic, the threat of the killer bee is real and should be taken seriously. It is good practice to call a professional to remove beehives in your area. If you are stung multiple times by any insect, you should always seek medical attention. You may not be expert enough to tell the difference between a killer bee and a less dangerous one, so be smart. It is better to be safe than sorry.
