QUESTION 9

The Mississippi river is ____ of Washington,DC (3 points)

north
south
east
west

Plz help!!!

Answers

Answer 1
West is the answer sge
Answer 2

The Mississippi River is west of Washington, DC.

To solve this question, one must have a basic understanding of the geography of the United States. Washington, DC is located on the East Coast of the United States, near the Atlantic Ocean. The Mississippi River, on the other hand, runs north to south primarily through the central part of the United States, eventually flowing into the Gulf of Mexico.

Given this information, we can deduce the following:

- Since Washington, DC is on the east coast and the Mississippi River is to the west of the east coast, the river is to the west of Washington, DC.

- The Mississippi River does not flow near Washington, DC, so it cannot be to the north or south of it.

- The only correct cardinal direction that describes the position of the Mississippi River relative to Washington, DC is west.

Therefore, the correct answer is that the Mississippi river is west of Washington, DC.

Why does dever always have a lower station pressure than chicago?

Answers

 The terrain is NOT lower.

Denver, the 'Mile High' city is higher than Chicago.

Increasing altitude = Decreasing pressure

This is because there is less atmospheric mass above the area.

Denver's lower station pressure compared to Chicago is due to its higher altitude, which results in less atmospheric pressure from the reduced air column above it. This affects vapor pressure and humidity, which are important factors in climate modeling and local weather patterns.

The reason Denver always has a lower station pressure than Chicago can be attributed to altitude and the physical principles of barometric pressure. Denver, known as the Mile-High City, is located at a higher elevation than Chicago. According to the hydrostatic equation, at higher altitudes, the barometric pressure is much less because the pressure is produced by the weight of the column of air above the location pressing down. Therefore, Denver experiences a lower atmospheric pressure compared to Chicago, which is closer to sea level.

Climate modeling further suggests that lower vapor pressure associated with altitude contributes to the higher humidity in the north-central United States. This decrease in vapor pressure is significant, amounting to a 2% decrease, and it influences weather patterns and humidity levels, especially near large bodies of water like the Great Lakes.

Answers

Final answer:

The ocean regulates temperatures, keeping them mild year-round in moderate climate regions.

Explanation:

The correct answer is B. moderate climate regions.

The ocean has a moderating effect on the climate in coastal regions, keeping temperatures mild year-round. Ocean currents distribute heat and regulate temperatures, creating a more stable climate compared to inland areas.

For example, cities like San Francisco in California and Lisbon in Portugal experience mild temperatures throughout the year due to their proximity to the ocean. In contrast, cities located further inland, such as Phoenix in Arizona, have more extreme temperature variations.

1.4 is your answer.

The correct answer is - It appears as if the average global surface temperature increased by 0.6 degrees.

The trend of global warming has been becoming more intense, and thus more obvious in the past few decades. In big portion it is a result of the human activity because it contributes to increased amounts of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere which is the main gas that forms the Greenhouse effect, as well the destruction of the ozone layer which contributes to increased influence by the sun on the Earth's surface. The temperature of the surface has risen 0.6 degrees (at places 0.9), while the average air temperature has gone over 1 degree all over the world.

In 1993, President Bill Clinton signed the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA). Choose one of the nations involved, and discuss the positive and negative effects NAFTA has had on its economy, imports, and exports. Do you think NAFTA is a successful agreement? Why or why not?

Answers

Mexico is one of the nations in NAFTA. The pro of having Mexico in the trade union is the cheap labor, mix of products that are moved into the US and better relations with Mexico. The con of this is that Mexico has the better party of the deal. They gain more money than we do when trading which falters our economy and encourages US businesses to move to Mexico for less taxes and cheap labor.

The NAFTA agreement is bad for the US and it's economy. As the years go on the more Mexico feeds of the US. We are making less money, if not nothing from this trade agreement.

There are a few pros and cons of the NAFTA agreement.

Pros: It increased trade between US, Canada, and Mexico. Trade between the three countries increased to $1.14 trillion in 2015. This increased our economic output boosting US growth by about.5% a year. This then created lots of jobs about 5 million new American jobs. Also now there was now more foreign investment in the US businesses which increased profit. And finally this agreement lowered prices because of the loss of tariffs. We relied less on the middle east for oil and more on Mexico this also reduced gas prices as transportation was cheaper. Cons: NAFTA Also made the US lose a lot of jobs we lost fewer jobs than we gained apparently but still it was about 500,000 to 750,00 jobs which are substantial. This was because manufacturers moved to Mexico as labor is much cheaper there, this job migration negatively affected wages as well. Companies would lower wages and threaten their workers to move to Mexico if they unionised this worked and a huge chunk of American. Manufacturing companies do this. NAFTA also put about 1.3 million Mexican farmers out of work causing them to be forced to illegally migrate to the US as they were desperate for work. Illegal immigrant numbers spiked after NAFTA. The Mexican workers who stayed behind in Mexico worked for these US companies and are treated badly they work in substandard conditions for terrible wages and 30% of Mexicos labor force works in these jobs. They also degrade Mexicos environment to lower costs causing 36 billion a year in pollution and cutting down 630,000 hectares of forest a year also contributing to global warming.

So overall it increases trade, profit and growth of these companies as well as cheapening products but people lose jobs lose their rights in the workplace and is degrading the Mexican environment.
