Answer 1

Answer:

A.

[tex]2xy^2(10x+3)[/tex]

B.

[tex](x+5)^2[/tex]

C.

[tex](x-6)(x+6)[/tex]

Step-by-step explanation:

Part A. The expression [tex]2x^2y^2+6xy^2+18x^2y^2[/tex] consists of three terms: [tex]2x^2y^2,\ \ 6xy^2,\ \ 18x^2y^2[/tex] The first and the last terms are like terms, we can add them:

[tex]2x^2y^2+18x^2y^2=20x^2y^2[/tex]

Now,

[tex]20x^2y^2=2xy^2\cdot 10x\\ \\6xy^2=2xy^2\cdot 3[/tex]

So,

[tex]2x^2y^2+6xy^2+18x^2y^2=2xy^2(10x+3)[/tex]

Part B. The expression [tex]x^2+10x+25[/tex] is a square of [tex]x+5,[/tex] so

[tex]x^2+10x+25=(x+5)^2[/tex]

Part C. Use the difference of squares formula:

[tex]x^2-36=x^2-6^2=(x-6)(x+6)[/tex]

1,2 cause of the o and y axis

The vertex is where the parabola changes directions, or in simpler terms, at the parabolas lowest point. Unless the parabola is upside down, then the vertex is where the highest point is.

The acid of symmetry is the line where the parabola can be divided evenly. This is almost always where the vertex is, except it continues on.

The y-intercept is where the parabola intersects with the y-axis.

14 Calculate the speed of the cyclist during section D _______

15. How far away was the cyclist when he turned around and headed home? _______

Answers

Answer:

Part 11) The cyclist stops for a time during the section B

Part 12) He traveling slowest in section A

Part 13) He traveling fastest in section C

Part 14) The speed in section D is 20 km/h

Part 15) The cyclist was 60 km from home when he turned around

Step-by-step explanation:

we know that

The speed is the ratio of the distance by the time

s=d/t

The slope of the graph is equal to the speed of the cyclist

Part 11. During the trip the cyclist stops for a time. During which labeled section-A, B, C, or D- did he stop?

The cyclist stops for a time during the section B

Because, during section B the distance is a constant (d=30 km)

therefore

The speed is equal to zero (Remember that the slope of a horizontal line is equal to zero)

Part 12. During which labeled section was he traveling the slowest?

Find the slope (speed) in each section

Find the slope in section A

Let

A(0,0) and B(4,30)

the slope is equal to

m=(30-0)/(4-0)=7.5 km/h

Find the slope in section B

Is a horizontal line

therefore

the slope is equal to

m=0 km/h

Find the slope in section C

Let

C(6,30) and D(7,60)

the slope is equal to

m=(60-30)/(7-6)=30 km/h

Find the slope in section D

Let

E(7,60) and F(10,0)

the slope is equal to

m=(0-60)/(10-7)=-20 km/h ---> is negative because in this section he turned around

therefore

He traveling slowest in section A

Part 13. During which labeled section was he traveling the fastest?

Remember part 12)

Slope in section C

Let

C(6,30) and D(7,60)

the slope is equal to

m=(60-30)/(7-6)=30 km/h ----> is the greater slope

therefore

He traveling fastest in section C

Part 14. Calculate the speed of the cyclist during section D

Remember part 12)

Slope in section D

Let

E(7,60) and F(10,0)

the slope is equal to

m=(0-60)/(10-7)=-20 km/h ---> is negative because in this section he turned around

therefore

The speed in section D is 20 km/h

Part 15. How far away was the cyclist when he turned around and headed home

Observing the graph

we know that the cyclist turned around at point (7,60)

therefore

The cyclist was 60 km from home when he turned around

what is 1 2/5 + 2 3/10

Answers

Answer: 3 7/10

Solution by separating parts

Let's rewrite our equation with the parts separated

= 1 + 2/5 + 2 + 3/10

Now, let's add the whole numbers

1 + 2 = 3

Now, let's figure out how to solve the fraction parts

2/5 + 3/10 = ?

You'll need to find the LCD (Lowest Common Denominator) of 2/5 and 3/10.

If you don't know, the LCD is 10

Since 3/10 already has a denominator of 10, we don't need to do anything with it.

However, we need to multiply the numerator and denominator of 2/5 by 2

Why? We need the LCD, which is 10. Also, we can only add fractions if they have the same denominators

Numerator: 2 x 2 = 4

Denominator: 5 x 2 = 10

Fraction: 4/10

Now add the fractions

4/10 + 3/10 = 7/10

Finally, combine the whole numbers with the fractions

3 + 7/10 = 3 7/10

a segment has and endpoint at (-6, 8). The midpoint is at (-6, 2). What are the coordinates of the other endpoint?

Answers

Answer:

(-6,-4)

Step-by-step explanation:

The first endpoint of the line is (-6,8), we can call

x_1 = -6

and

y_1 = 8

Let the last endpoint have coordinates (x_2,y_2)

Also, the midpoint formula is:

(x_1+x_2)/2 , (y_1+y_2)/2

Now, plugging these values is the formula, we get:

(-6+x_2)/2 = -6

-6+x_2=-12

x_2=-12+6 = -6

x_2 = -6

Also

(8+y_2)/2=2

8+y_2=4

y_2=4-8=-4

y_2 = -4

The coordinates of the other endpoint is (-6,-4)

[tex]r = 2 \sqrt{29} ( \cos(292 \degree) + \sin(292 \degree)) [/tex]

EXPLANATION

The polar form of a complex number ,

[tex]z = x + yi[/tex]

is given by:

[tex]z = r( \cos( \theta) + i \sin( \theta) )[/tex]

where

[tex]r = \sqrt{ {x}^{2} + {y}^{2} } [/tex]

The given complex number is:

[tex]z = 4 - 10i[/tex]

[tex]r = \sqrt{ {4}^{2} + {( - 10)}^{2} } [/tex]

[tex]r = \sqrt{16 + 100} [/tex]

[tex]r = \sqrt{116} = 2 \sqrt{29} [/tex]

And

[tex]\theta= \tan^{ - 1}(\frac{ y}{x} )[/tex]

[tex]\theta= \tan^{ - 1}(\frac{ - 10}{4} )[/tex]

[tex]\theta= 292 \degree[/tex]

Hence the polar form is :

[tex]r = 2 \sqrt{29} ( \cos(292 \degree) + \sin(292 \degree)) [/tex]

Step-by-step explanation:

Think about it.

What two numbers multiply to -15 and add up to 2?

The answers are 5 and -3.

So plug that into the factored form of a parabola.

[tex]y=(x+5)(x-3)[/tex]

To find the x-intercepts, plug in 0 for [tex]y[/tex].

[tex](x+5)(x-3)=0[/tex]

Since we are multiplying, at least one of the terms has to equal 0.

[tex]x+5=0 \\ x-3=0 \\ \\ x=-5,3[/tex]

So the x-intercepts are [tex](-5,0)[/tex] and [tex](3,0)[/tex].

Step-by-step explanation:

The equation of the circle has the following form

[tex]x^2 + y^2 + a_0x + a_1y=0[/tex]

The equation of the circle has the following form

We know that the circle goes through the following points

(0, 0)

(6, 0)

(0, -8).

Then we substitute the values of x and y in the equation

For (0, 0)

[tex]0^2 + 0^2 + a_0(0) + a_1(0)=0[/tex]

[tex]0=0[/tex]

For  (6, 0)

[tex]6^2 + 0^2 + a_0(6) + a_1(0)=0[/tex]

[tex]36 + 6a_0=0[/tex]

[tex]a_0 = -\frac{36}{6}\\\\a_0 = -6[/tex]

For (0, -8)

[tex]0^2 + (-8)^2 + a_0(0) + a_1(-8)=0[/tex]

[tex](-8)^2 - 8a_1=0[/tex]

[tex](-8)^2 = 8a_1[/tex]

[tex]a_1=8[/tex]

Finally the equation is:

A nature preserve has a population of fourteen black bears. They have been tagged #1 through #14, so they can be observed over time. Two of them are randomly selected and captured for evaluation. One is tested for worms and one is tested for ticks. What is the probability that bear #3 is tested for worms and bear #5 is tested for ticks?

Answers

Answer:

1/182 or 0.55%

Step-by-step explanation:

There are 2 ways to approach this problem (and both give the same answer!).

First method: probability for each test.

First test, worms: There's 1/14 chances for bear #3 to be selected, since there are 14 bears total.

Second test, ticks: There's 1/13 chances for bear #5 to be selected, since only 13 bears remain (#3 cannot be tested for both ticks and worms).

So, to obtain the total probability, we multiply 1/14 with 1/13 = 1/182

Second method: permutations

We can see the problem from a permutations perspective.  How many permutations can we have for 2 bears to be tested? It's a permutation since the order is important. (#3 ticks + #5 worms ≠ #3 worms + #5 ticks)

[tex]P(14,2) = \frac{14!}{(14 - 2)!} = 182[/tex]

There are 182 permutations possible, ONE of which is bear #3 is tested for worms and bear #5 is tested for ticks.

So, once again, 1/182.

Rounding to the nearest tenth, the area of the regular pentagon is approximately 175.1 square centimeters.

To find the area of the regular pentagon, we can use the formula:

Area = (5/2) * s * r

Where s is the length of one side of the pentagon and r is the distance from the midpoint of the pentagon to one of its vertices.

We are given that s = 8.37 cm and r = 8.37 cm.

Plugging these values into the formula, we get:

Area = (5/2) * 8.37 * 8.37

Area = (5/2) * 70.0569

Area = 175.14225

Rounding to the nearest tenth, the area of the regular pentagon is approximately 175.1 square centimeters.

Read the excerpt from the fairy tale Hansel and Gretel and answer the question that follows. Hard by a great forest dwelt a poor wood-cutter with his wife and his two children. The boy was called Hansel and the girl Gretel. He had little to bite and to break, and once when great dearth fell on the land, he could no longer procure even daily bread. Now when he thought over this by night in his bed, and tossed about in his anxiety, he groaned and said to his wife: "What is to become of us? How are we to feed our poor children, when we no longer have anything even for ourselves?" "I'll tell you what, husband," answered the woman, "early tomorrow morning we will take the children out into the forest to where it is the thickest; there we will light a fire for them, and give each of them one more piece of bread, and then we will go to our work and leave them alone. They will not find the way home again, and we shall be rid of them." "No, wife," said the man, "I will not do that; how can I bear to leave my children alone in the forest?the wild animals would soon come and tear them to pieces." "O, you fool!" said she, "then we must all four die of hunger, you may as well plane the planks for our coffins," and she left him no peace until he consented. "But I feel very sorry for the poor children, all the same," said the man. The two children had also not been able to sleep for hunger, and had heard what their stepmother had said to their father. Gretel wept bitter tears, and said to Hansel: "Now all is over with us." "Be quiet, Gretel," said Hansel, "do not distress yourself, I will soon find a way to help us." And when the old folks had fallen asleep, he got up, put on his little coat, opened the door below, and crept outside. The moon shone brightly, and the white pebbles which lay in front of the house glittered like real silver pennies. Hansel stooped and stuffed the little pocket of his coat with as many as he could get in. Then he went back and said to Gretel: "Be comforted, dear little sister, and sleep in peace, God will not forsake us," and he lay down again in his bed. When day dawned, but before the sun had risen, the woman came and awoke the two children, saying: "Get up, you sluggards! we are going into the forest to fetch wood." She gave each a little piece of bread, and said: "There is something for your dinner, but do not eat it up before then, for you will get nothing else." Gretel took the bread under her apron, as Hansel had the pebbles in his pocket. Then they all set out together on the way to the forest. When they had walked a short time, Hansel stood still and peeped back at the house, and did so again and again. His father said: "Hansel, what are you looking at there and staying behind for? Pay attention, and do not forget how to use your legs." "Ah, father," said Hansel, "I am looking at my little white cat, which is sitting up on the roof, and wants to say goodbye to me." The wife said: "Fool, that is not your little cat, that is the morning sun which is shining on the chimneys." Hansel, however, had not been looking back at the cat, but had been constantly throwing one of the white pebble-stones out of his pocket on the road. When they had reached the middle of the forest, the father said: "Now, children, pile up some wood, and I will light a fire that you may not be cold." Hansel and Gretel gathered brushwood together, as high as a little hill. The brushwood was lighted, and when the flames were burning very high, the woman said: "Now, children, lay yourselves down by the fire and rest, we will go into the forest and cut some wood. When we have done, we will come back and fetch you away." Hansel and Gretel sat by the fire, and when noon came, each ate a little piece of bread, and as they heard the strokes of the wood-axe they believed that their father was near. It was not the axe, however, but a branch which he had fastened to a withered tree which the wind was blowing backwards and forwards. And as they had been sitting such a long time, their eyes closed with fatigue, and they fell fast asleep. When at last they awoke, it was already dark night. Gretel began to cry and said: "How are we to get out of the forest now?" But Hansel comforted her and said: "Just wait a little, until the moon has risen, and then we will soon find the way." And when the full moon had risen, Hansel took his little sister by the hand, and followed the pebbles which shone like newly-coined silver pieces, and showed them the way.
