George plans to cover his circular pool for the upcoming winter season. The pool has a diameter of 20 feet and extends 12 inches beyond the edge of the pool. A rope runs along the edge of the cover to secure it in place.

a.
What is the area of the pool cover?
b.
What is the length of the rope?

Answers

The pool has a diameter 20 ft so:  r = 10 ft.
The pool cover extents 12 inches beyond the edge of the pool.
12 inches = 1 foot
Therefore, the radius of the pool cover is : r = 10 + 1 = 11 ft.
a. The area of the pool cover:
A = r² π = 11² π = 121 π ft²
b.  The length of the rope:
l = 2 r π = 2 · 11 π = 22 π ft.

Answer:

Given the data, the pool has a diameter of 20 feet, so, R=10ft.

The pool cover expands 12 inches beyond the pool, so, 12in.= 1 foot

Therefore, the radius of the pool cover will then be: 10+1= 11ft.

ANSWER A (pool cover)) r² π = 11² π = 121 π ft²

Answers

The closest answer that I could find would be (-2, 2). The answer to the system is (-1.4, 1.6)

The solution to the given system of linear equations is (-1.4, 1.6).

What is a linear system of equations?

A system of linear equations consists of two or more equations made up of two or more variables such that all equations in the system are considered simultaneously. The solution to a system of linear equations in two variables is any ordered pair that satisfies each equation independently.

The given system of equations are 2x+3y=2 -----(i) and y=x+3 -----(ii)

Substitute, equation (ii) in equation (i), we get

2x+3(x+3)=2

2x+3x+9=2

5x=-7

x=-7/5

x=-1.4

Substitute x=-1.4 in equation (ii), we get

2(-1.4)+3y=2

-2.8+3y=2

3y=2+2.8

3y=4.8/3

y=1.6

So, the solution is (-1.4, 1.6)

Therefore, the solution to the given system of linear equations is (-1.4, 1.6).

Answers

Problem 1
-9x + 2y = -1             (1)
18x - 7y = 17             (2)
To eliminate x, multiply (1) by 2 to obtain
-18x + 4y = -2
 18x - 7y = 17
Add the two equations.
-3y = 15
y = -5
From (2), obtain
18x = 17 + 7y = 17 + 7*(-5) = -18
x = -1

Answer:  x= -1, y = -5

Problem 2.
4x + 18y = -28           (1)
2x + 9y = -14             (2)
Divide (1) by 2 to obtain the system of equations
2x + 9y = -14
2x + 9y = -14
These two equations re identical.
Therefore there are an infinite number of solutions.

Answer:
There is no unique set of solutions.

Problem 3.
 20x + y = -11           (1)
-10x - 3y = -17         (2)
Multiply (2) by 2 to obtain
 20x + y = -11
-20x - 6y = -34
Add the two equations to eliminate x.
-5y = -45
y = 9
From (1), obtain
20x = -11 - y = -11 - 9 = -20
x = -1

Answer:  x = -1,  y = 9

Problem 4
-3x + y = 7           (1)
-6x + 2y = 12       (2)
Divide (2) to obtain the system of equations
-3x + y = 7
-3x + y = 6
Because 7 ≠ 6, th set of equations is nonsensical (inconsistent).

LeRon draws an orange counter from one bag and a red counter from another bag. Which statement is true?

Answers

Hello there!

The question asks if the events are independent or dependent.
Well, let's establish what an independent and dependent event is.

An independent event is an occurrence in which two or more events do not have effect on each other, regardless what happens during each scenario.

An independent event would be (for example) "I flipped a coin and rolled a dice." Both of these are independent events, as they do not have any effect on eachother.

dependent event is an occurrence in which two or more events have effects on eachother. For example "I pull a red card out of a deck of cards. I then pull a black card out of the same deck."

The question you have is:
LeRon draws an orange counter from one bag and a red counter from another bag. Are the events dependent or independent?

Since that LeRon draws two different counters from two separate bags, the events do not effect each other, thus making the events independent.

This is the theory of algebra, to simply the expression we proceed as follows;

simplifying the numerator we get:
sqrt(x-2)+5/sqrt(x-2)
=[x-2+5]/sqrt(x-2)
=(x+3)/sqrt(x-2)
therefore our entire expression will be:
[(x+3)/sqrt(x-2)]/(x-2)
[(x+3)/(x-2)^(1/2)]*1/(x-2)
applying the law if indices we get

3m - 9 = 21 <=== ur equation
3m = 21 + 9
3m = 30
m = 30/3
m = 10 <== ur solution

Answer with Step-by-step explanation:

Let cost of Manuel's cds=m

Rita's cds originally cost three times more than Manuel's cds, but she received a $9 discount.

i.e. Rita's cds cost=3m-9

Rita spent $21 total.

i.e. 3m-9=21

Adding 9 on both sides, we get

3m=30

Dividing both sides by 3, we get

m=10

Hence, equation which can be used to find the amount Manuel spent is:

3m-9=21

The graph represents a person's heart rate in beats per minute during 30 minutes of exercise.

Which statement best describes the relationship between heart rate and time doing exercise?

Answers

Looking at the graph closely we can see that the heart rate increases from 0 to 6 min then became steady from 6 to 25 min then finally decreases from 25 to 30 min. Therefore the correct answer is:

“The heart rate increases for 6 minutes, remains constant for 19 minutes, and then gradually decreases for 5 minutes.”

In real life cardiac exercises, we can interpret that the period from 0 to 6 min is the period where the person is still warming up thus leading to an increase in heart rate. At 6 min, the person is fully warmed up hence reaching a stable heart rate. Then at 25 min, the person starts cooling down which means that the exercise is ending soon.

We are given the two functions:

f(x) = 2x + 7

g(x) = 6x – 5

Part A. Find (f + g)(x)

(f + g)(x) = f(x) + g(x)

(f + g)(x) = 2 x + 7 + 6 x – 5

(f + g)(x) = 8 x + 2

Part B. Find (f ⋅ g)(x)

(f ⋅ g)(x) = f(x) ⋅ g(x)

(f ⋅ g)(x) = (2 x + 7) (6 x – 5)

(f ⋅ g)(x) = 12 x^2 – 10 x + 42 x – 35

(f ⋅ g)(x) = 12 x^2 + 32 x – 35

Part C. Find f[g(x)]

f[g(x)] = 2 (6 x – 5) + 7

f[g(x)] = 12 x – 10 + 7

f[g(x)] = 12 x - 3

What does exclamation point mean in math?

Answers

! stands for factorial. It is the multiplication of all numbers from 1 up to the number before the !

e.g., 5! = 1*2*3*4*5 = 120
Final answer:

In mathematics, an exclamation point represents a factorial, meaning the product of an integer and all the positive integers below it. For example, 5 factorial, or 5!, is 5 x 4 x 3 x 2 x 1 = 120. Unlike exponentials, factorials involve consecutive multiplication of integers.

Explanation:

In mathematics, the exclamation point is used to represent a factorial. Factorial indicates the product of an integer and all the positive integers below it. For instance, 5! would be 5 x 4 x 3 x 2 x 1 =  120. This calculation method is a significant concept especially in exponential arithmetic.

Contrary to exponential notation, factorials do not deal with the concept of powers or repeated multiplication of the same number. Instead, they focus on consecutive multiplication of descending positive integers. For example, 3! is evaluated as 3 x 2 x 1 = 6, instead of 3 x 3.

If a weighted score for a project is based on just two criteria, fit with strategy, weighted 70% and roi, weighted 30%, what would be the weighted score for a project with scores of 80 on fit with strategy and 50 on roi?

Answers

When dealing with weighted averages, we multiply the score of each item by the percentage that it's been weighted and add the scores together. 80/100 X 70/100 = 5600/10000 or 56/100 50/100 x 30/100 = 1500/10000 or 15/100 56 + 15 = 71 and so your grade would be 71%

Final answer:

To calculate the weighted score for a project, apply the weights to the scores for each criterion and sum the results. The calculated weighted score for a project with scores of 80 on 'fit with strategy' (70% weight) and 50 on 'ROI' (30% weight) is 71.

Explanation:

To calculate the weighted score for a project based on the provided criteria, you need to apply the weights to the scores for each criterion and then sum the results. In this case, the criteria are 'fit with strategy' which has a weight of 70% and 'ROI' which has a weight of 30%.

The weighted score for 'fit with strategy' is calculated as follows:
(Score for 'fit with strategy' × Weight of 'fit with strategy') = (80 × 0.7) = 56.

The weighted score for 'ROI' is calculated as follows:
(Score for 'ROI' × Weight of 'ROI') = (50 × 0.3) = 15.

To find the total weighted score for the project, you add these two results together: 56 (from fit with strategy) + 15 (from ROI) = 71.

Therefore, the total weighted score for the project is 71.

The branch of biological science that studies the external and internal structure of the body and the physical relationship among body parts is called ________. I am about to take the back-trail through the Old Westthe West that I knew and loved. All my life it has been a pleasure to show its beauties, its marvels and its possibilities to those who, under my guidance, saw it for the first time. The Indian, tamed, educated and inspired with a taste for white collars and moving-pictures, is as numerous as ever, but not so picturesque. On the little tracts of his great inheritance allotted him by civilization he is working out his own manifest destiny. The buffalo has gone. Gone also is the stagecoach whose progress his pilgrimages often used to interrupt. Gone is the pony express, whose marvelous efficiency could compete with the wind, but not with the harnessed lightning flashed over the telegraph wires. Gone are the very bone-gatherers who laboriously collected the bleaching relics of the great herds that once dotted the prairies. But the West of the old times, with its strong characters, its stern battles and its tremendous stretches of loneliness, can never be blotted from my mind. Nor can it, I hope, be blotted from the memory of the American people, to whom it has now become a priceless possession. It has been my privilege to spend my working years on the frontier. I have known and served with commanders like Sherman, Sheridan, Miles, Custer and A.A. Carrmen who would be leaders in any army in any age. I have known and helped to fight with many of the most notable of the Indian warriors. Frontiersmen good and bad, gunmen as well as inspired prophets of the future, have been my camp companions. Thus, I know the country of which I am about to write as few men now living have known it. We shall omit the hazards and the hardships, but often we shall leave the iron roads over which the Pullman rolls and, back in the hills, see the painted Indians winding up the draws, or watch the more savage Mormon Danites swoop down on the wagon-train. I shall try to vary the journey, for frequent changes of scenes are grateful to travelers. I shall show you some of the humors as well as the excitements of the frontier. I was born on a farm near Leclair, Scott County, Iowa, February 26, 1846. My father, Isaac Cody, had emigrated to what was then a frontier State. He and his people, as well as my mother, had all dwelt in Ohio. I remember that there were Indians all about us, looking savage enough as they slouched about the village streets or loped along the roads on their ponies. But they bore no hostility toward anything save work and soap and water. We were comfortable and fairly prosperous on the little farm. My mother, whose maiden name was Mary Ann Leacock, took an active part in the life of the neighborhood. An education was scarce in those days. Even school teachers did not always possess it. Mother's education was far beyond the average, and the local school board used to require all applicants for teachers' position to be examined by her before they were entrusted with the tender intellects of the pioneer children. But the love of adventure was in father's blood. The railroadthe only one I had ever seenextended as far as Port Byron, Illinois, just across the Mississippi. When the discovery of gold in California in 1849 set the whole country wild, this railroad began to bring the Argonauts, bound for the long overland wagon journey across the Plains. Naturally, father caught the excitement. In 1850 he made a start, but it was abandonedwhy I never knew. But after that he was not content with Iowa. In 1853 our farm and most of our goods and chattels were converted into money. And in 1854 we all set out for Kansas, which was soon to be opened for settlers as a Territory.Select all the correct answers.Which two ways would the passage be different if it were told from the point of view of a third-person narrator?
