Answer:

The folktale "The Tiger´s Whisker" originates from Korea, and it is used mostly as a child´s tale. It narrates the story of Yun Ok, whose husband has changed drastically from a loving, and gentle man, to an irrascible one, thanks to the wars. In desperation, Yun Ok, goes to a hermit and asks for a potion. The man tells her that in order to do so, she must bring a whisker from a live tiger. Yun Ok does as she is told, and patiently gains the trust of a tiger, and gets the needed whisker. In the end, she finds out that the lesson the hermit wanted her to learn was that to regain her husband, she needed to apply the same technique she used on the tiger, and not a potion. Given this background, the answers would be thus:

1. A folktale is defined precisely as: A story that is often passed along by word of mouth from one generation to another. This is the correct answer.

2. In this question, the answer is: Her husband has become very distant since he returned from war. This is what is narrated in the story as the reason for Yun Ok´s husband´s estrangement.

3.  The correct answer here is: He laughs at Yun Ok´s idea because he thinks she is foolish to believe that solving the problem with her husband could be so simple. Though not directly stated, the hermit does laugh in a way when he says to Yun Ok that healing her husband with a potion is not like taking care of an ear infection. And he makes her feel somewhat foolish for her request. But she insists and he gives in.

4. The answer to this question is: She decides that reconnecting with her husband is worth the risk. This is stated in the story when Yun, although afraid, still continues persistently to go after the tiger, always keeping in mind that all is for the benefit of herself and her husband.

5. The answer here is: She learns that through patience, she can win her husband´s trust and heart like she earned the trust of the tiger. This is the lesson she learns when the hermit burns the whisker and makes her reflect on how she was able to get it from a wild tiger, saying that a man cannot be fiercer, or more difficult, than a tiger.

6.  The answer here is: She is patient and demonstrates perseverance by spending six long months, slowly getting the tiger to trust her before she plucks out his whisker. This is exactly what she does in the story. She spends every day of those six months, carefully gaining the tiger´s trust, until he allows her near, and then allows her to take his whisker.

Final answer:

Yes, "The Tiger's Whisker" is a folktale that teaches important lessons, Yun Ok's situation is that her husband has become distant, the hermit is impressed with Yun Ok's bravery, Yun Ok is willing to risk her life to reconnect with her husband, Yun Ok learns the importance of patience, and she demonstrates perseverance throughout the story.

Explanation:

The story "The Tiger's Whisker" is an example of a folktale. A folktale is a story that is meant to teach its audience an important lesson and is often passed along by word of mouth from one generation to another. It provides lessons that focus on values that generally do not change over time, such as the value of friendship. It is not true that a folktale always loses its value and meaning over time because every generation is different.

In "The Tiger's Whisker," Yun Ok's situation is that her husband has become very distant since he returned home from war.

When Yun Ok asks the hermit for a potion to solve her problem, he is impressed with her bravery because everyone else is too afraid to come visit him.

Yun Ok is willing to risk her life and approach the tiger because she decides that reconnecting with her husband is worth the risk.

From her experience with the tiger, Yun Ok learns that through patience, she can win her husband's trust and heart, just as she earned the trust of the tiger.

We can infer from the story that Yun Ok is patient and demonstrates perseverance by spending six long months slowly gaining the trust of the tiger before plucking out his whisker.

Explanation:

The passage provided contains several sentence fluency errors that disrupt the flow of the text and make it harder to read. Addressing these errors can enhance the readability and coherence of the passage.

Identified Fluency Errors:

Looking at the first sentence, it is clear that there is a run-on sentence which improperly combines two complete thoughts without proper punctuation or conjunction. To fix this, you could break up the sentence into two by adding a period or a semicolon or inserting a conjunction such as 'while' or 'although'. 'Political documents from the time of the United States' independence are important; other written accounts and even fiction from that time period can be just as valuable.'

The second sentence 'Such as journal entries and poetry.' is a fragment. Sentences must contain a subject and a verb to be complete. This fragment can be corrected by integrating it into the previous or following sentence, such as '...can be just as valuable, such as journal entries and poetry.'

The last part 'These documents are interesting to read they give glimpses into daily life and values during an important time in our country's history.' can be improved by adding a conjunction such as 'because' or by separating the ideas into two sentences. For example: 'These documents are interesting to read because they give glimpses into daily life and values during an important time in our country's history.'

I'm at a loss of inspiration. I dream to be a writer and right now no one has any ideas or no one thinks my ideas will be interesting.
I want to write a romantic horror themed short story or long book. But I don't know a decent, not idea. My mind travels to something like "haunted house and an attempt to escape" but that isn't interesting. Ideas, please?

Answers

Final answer:

To generate ideas for a romantic horror story, engage in free writing exercises, write even imperfect first drafts, and focus on persistent thoughts. Consider unique character pairings, such as a romance between a ghost and a living person, and explore deep emotions like fear and love to enrich your narrative.

Explanation:

You are looking for inspiration to write a romantic horror story. Remember that inspiration can strike when you write without pressure, allowing your creativity to flow. Anne Lamott emphasizes the importance of writing flawed first drafts as a way to get started. Salman Rushdie suggests that concentration is key, and not inspiration. Free writing, where you write continuously for a set time without worrying about the critical voice in your head, can also be a great exercise to unearth fresh ideas.

Creating characters with depth and placing them in a unique situation could bring new life to classic horror tropes. For example, rather than focusing on a haunted house, you might explore a romance between a ghost and a living person, where their love story is threatened by supernatural or even societal forces. Additionally, you could draw inspiration from gothic tales or consider including magical realism as a fresh take on the horror aspect. Remember to write ideas down and focus on those that persist, which often indicate a story worth fleshing out.

Lastly, consider the emotional depth of your story—fear and love are powerful emotions that can drive your narrative. Reflecting on your personal fears or dreams and incorporating them into your writing can add authenticity and connect with your audience on a deeper level. Moreover, exploring themes like the fight against an oppressive force could lead your characters through tumultuous developments, adding both romantic and horror elements to your story.

All of them? Thats what I would put

Julia and Jack.

Further Explanation:

The above statement says that jack lies on absolute most of the instances and when he says “if you round up Jane, Joey, and John, one among them is a liar. That means that none of them is a liar and it is this statement itself clarifies that Julia and Jack are the compulsive liars because, after this statement by Jack, only these two are left.

The second reason behind strongly believing Jack and Julia to be compulsive liars was that I started looking at the statement from Joe’s perspective who was the first one to say that ‘Jack is a liar’ and Jack also said that Jane and John were not liars and if we believe both the statements from Jack and Joe then Jack is a compulsive liar and no one said that Julia is not a liar so that means she is the second compulsive liar.

PLEASE HELP!!!!

this assignment was comparing the book to the movie of the glass castle, can someone please tell me if I have any mistakes!!!!

The Glass Castle

The movie version of The Glass Castle did a very good job of portraying the book. But, there are many differences and similarities from the movie version and the book version.

In the movie version of the glass castle many details are left out. For example, in the book we are first are introduced to Jeannette as an adult in New York living in a high end apartment with her husband, but in the movie he was only her fiancé. Also, in the book we only see adult Jennette in the beginning and the end of the book but but in the movie we jump back and forth from adult Jennette to child Jannette.

Even though the movie was a little different from the book, there were  many similarities. For example, in the book Jannette gets burned at three years old when she was cooking hot dogs all by her self, and that also happens in the movie. Another example is in both the movie and the book, Jannette’s mom Rosemary, finds a ugly tree in the dessert that she decides to paint a portrait of it. The major theme of both the book and the movie is forgiveness, “Everyone has something good about them,’ she said. ‘You have to find the redeeming quality and love the person for that.’ / ‘Oh yeah?” I said. ‘How about Hitler? What was he redeeming quality?’/ ‘Hitler loved dogs,’Mom said without hesitation”  (Walls 144)

In my opinion the book is better because it describes more details about the family, where they live, how they act, and the sequence of events. In the movie the character of Jeannette and her older sister Lori differ from the book because in the book they are more anxious to escape their crazy family and move to New York. In the book the plot does not differ from the movie.

Answers

This is a great answer! I would first of all in your introduction paragraph change "very good" to impressive. I would take out the "but" at the beginning of the sentence. In the 2nd paragrpah I would leave out the words "version.  The tree should be "poor looking," not "ugly". Also, you have a repeating "are" that says " we are first are" adn Janette as an adult should replace Adult Jannette. I hope that this helps you! :)

Final answer:

The film adaptation of 'The Glass Castle' differs from the book, particularly in the depiction of Jeannette's life and timeline, but retains key events and the theme of forgiveness.

Explanation:

When comparing the movie version of 'The Glass Castle' to the original memoir by Jeanette Walls, we can pinpoint several differences and similarities. The book provides a more comprehensive account of Jeannette's life, from her dysfunctional family dynamics to her determination to move to New York, which is depicted with greater depth and subtlety than in the movie. In both versions, key events such as Jeannette's childhood burn incident and her mother Rosemary's painting of a desert tree underscore the central theme of forgiveness that permeates this poignant story. One significant alteration in the film is the representation of Jeannette's relationships and her timeline, which is more fluid and frequent in its transitions between her younger and adult selves.

Even though my life is very busy, I spend as much time as I can with my family. I often ask my dad, who is an excellent athlete, to play soccer with me. Answer:

c

Explanation:

Final answer:

The sentence with a comma error is "However, nothing is better than watching movies with my loyal, black cat, Max." The comma between 'loyal' and 'black' is unnecessary and should be removed, making the corrected sentence "However, nothing is better than watching movies with my loyal black cat, Max."

Explanation:

The sentence that contains a comma error is "However, nothing is better than watching movies with my loyal, black cat, Max." The error is the comma placed after 'black'. This comma separates the adjective 'black' from the noun 'cat', which it is describing, but since 'loyal' and 'black' are cumulative adjectives that both modify 'cat', they should not be separated by a comma. Therefore, the correct sentence should be "However, nothing is better than watching movies with my loyal black cat, Max."

Read this excerpt from Edgar Allan Poe’s “The Masque of the Red Death" and answer the question that follows. Here the case was very different, as might have been expected from the duke's love of the bizarre. The apartments were so irregularly disposed that the vision embraced but little more than one at a time. There was a sharp turn at every twenty or thirty yards, and at each turn a novel effect. To the right and left, in the middle of each wall, a tall and narrow Gothic window looked out upon a closed corridor which pursued the windings of the suite. These windows were of stained glass whose colour varied in accordance with the prevailing hue of the decorations of the chamber into which it opened. That at the eastern extremity was hung, for example in blue—and vividly blue were its windows. The second chamber was purple in its ornaments and tapestries, and here the panes were purple. The third was green throughout, and so were the casements. The fourth was furnished and lighted with orange—the fifth with white—the sixth with violet. The seventh apartment was closely shrouded in black velvet tapestries that hung all over the ceiling and down the walls, falling in heavy folds upon a carpet of the same material and hue. . . .And thus were produced a multitude of gaudy and fantastic appearances. Give examples of how Charlie is treated at his job now ( flowers for Algernon) PLEASE HELP ❗️

Answers

Charlie is treated extremely poorly, people were constantly making fun of him and always treated him as if he was a child.
One example is when I believe they got Charlie drunk and then made him do something really stupid but for the life of me, I can't remember it...

Charlie, from 'Flowers for Algernon,' experiences disrespect at his job both before and after a surgery that enhances his intelligence. Initially, his colleagues laugh at him and use him for their amusement. After the surgery, while he gains more awareness, he faces new challenges as his intelligence provokes envy and further complicates his work relationships.

In Daniel Keyes' novel Flowers for Algernon, the protagonist Charlie is treated quite poorly at his job before the surgery that increases his intelligence. Colleagues often laugh at him and take advantage of his mental disability by making him the butt of jokes without his understanding. After the surgery, as his intelligence grows, Charlie begins to realize the extent of the mockery and disrespect he endured from co-workers. Despite his increased understanding, the mistreatment continues in different ways, as his newfound intelligence creates a degree of envy and discomfort among his peers, leading to a complex and challenging work environment.

Moreover, Charlie's position at work does not provide him with a sense of autonomy or appreciation, similar to the way CharlieAnn is treated in her role as a nursing assistant. His contributions are not recognized, and he is given little to no control over his work activities. Charlie's experiences at his job reflect on the broader themes of the novel, such as the treatment of individuals with intellectual disabilities and the social dynamics of power and validation within workplace environments.
